Dr. Ayub A. Merchant, M.D. obtained his medical degree from Dow Medical College/University of Karachi. After moving to the United States in 1983, he completed a three year residency in Internal Medicine at Wayne State University Affiliated Hospitals in Detroit, MI and then a three year fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at State University of NY at Stony Brook in Long Island. Dr. Merchant is Board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

Dr. Ayub A. Merchant, M.D. obtained his medical degree from Dow Medical College/University of Karachi. After moving to the United States in 1983, he completed a three year residency in Internal Medicine at Wayne State University Affiliated Hospitals in Detroit, MI and then a three year fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at State University of NY at Stony Brook in Long Island. He has been in practice in Greenville since 1991 and on medical staff at both Greenville Memorial and Saint Francis Hospitals. Dr. Merchant is Board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He currently serves as a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Greenville County Medical Society, South Carolina Gastroenterology Association, and South Carolina Medical Association. When he finds time away from patient care, teaching and continuing medical education, he enjoys vacations with his family and time spent with his two sons.

Dr. Merchant always wins a high rating from me. The Endoscopy Center staff, not so much. i hope they can do some better vetting of their older female staff’s (my age ha ha) treatment of patients about to undergo procedures. Also hope they can offer better sizing and more flexible mouth pieces.A successful procedure in the end, just not so comfortable as it should have been. but this doctor is great!

Calm, gentle manner. No complaints.
Saw Dr. Merchant as a "sick call" patient. Very pleased. He listened, he understood the history I provided, he was empathetic to my previous health journey and he actually examined me and touched me, something greatly missing today in Healthcare (my having been an RN for over 20 years have seen that disappear.) He was also honest with his feedback and what he and his partners could provide in tandem. The encounter was different from some of their other providers and greatly different from the staff.
Explained very thoroughly how and what he was going to do, then provided complete details after the procedure.
