Dr. Anthony S. Machi, M.D., is a board-eligible orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, joint preservation, and the arthroscopic treatment of knee, shoulder, and hip injuries.
He treats a full range of athletic and degenerative conditions, including ACL and ligament injuries, meniscus tears, cartilage damage, patellar instability, hip impingement, labral and hip abductor tears, rotator cuff injuries, shoulder instability, and shoulder arthritis. He also performs partial (unicompartmental) knee replacements and manages general orthopaedic injuries.
Dr. Machi utilizes advanced arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgical techniques, with expertise in both anatomic and reverse total shoulder arthroplasty. His approach emphasizes non-operative care whenever possible and focuses on helping patients safely return to an active lifestyle using proven, evidence-based treatments.
He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Jefferson Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia and received advanced fellowship training in sports medicine at the Cincinnati Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center. Dr. Machi has co-authored multiple research publications and has been recognized for academic and clinical achievement, including induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and receiving the Resident Teaching Award at Jefferson Einstein. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), and the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA).
Dr. Machi sees patients at Towson Orthopaedic Associates’ Bel Air location. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children, as well as golfing and snowboarding.

Dr. Machine did an excellent job explaining my diagnosis and developing a treatment plan that works best for me.

He was very good and explained what the x-ray showed. Cordazone shoot was no relief at all. Trying to get in after a I got a MRI.
