Welcome to OrthoIllinois! I’d like to take this opportunity to share more about my background, education, and hand/upper extremity orthopedic practice at OrthoIllinois. Growing up in the Chicago suburbs, my father played a significant role in my journey to become an orthopedic surgeon. As a building engineer, he taught me the foundation of skills necessary to build and repair things. Through his influence, I learned an appreciation for using my hands and doing the hard work necessary to get the job done.

I later found I was equally fascinated by the mechanics of the human body and its capacity for both injury and repair. This led me to pursue rigorous undergraduate study at the University of Chicago. While in college, I played baseball all 4 years as a catcher for the Maroons. This experience taught me the unique set of conditions facing student-athletes and their families. It has also equipped me with the tools necessary to work with athletes and their teams when injuries occur and get them back into the game safely and efficiently.
After college, I went on to University of Illinois College of Medicine to pursue a medical degree. It was as a medical student that I was first exposed to OrthoIllinois. I had the privilege of learning about the specialty of orthopedics at its Rockford clinic from some of my current partners. OrthoIllinois’ focus on patient-centric, high-quality care left a strong impression on me. I could not be prouder to now be a part of this team.
I liked the idea of helping patients maintain or regain work and activity levels without pain. My exposure to the culture of excellence in orthopedics at OrthoIllinois drove me to seek the very best training for my future patients. After medical school, I had the privilege of completing five years of training in orthopedic surgery at the prestigious Mayo Clinic. Following residency, I did an additional year of intensive training with several leaders in the world of upper extremity surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. It was during this Hand & Upper Extremity Fellowship that I honed the skills necessary for the precise microvascular and reconstructive surgery required for working on the hand and elbow.
Today, my practice specializes in the non-surgical and surgical treatment of the upper extremity. I take the whole limb into consideration when working with my patients to develop the best treatment plan possible. From hand and finger injuries to elbow conditions, my practice specializes in the treatment of acute, chronic, and traumatic conditions of the hand, wrist, and elbow in kids and adults of all ages.
I look forward to helping you on your journey to a more functional and pain-free life. I am committed to providing each of my patients with a warm, welcoming, and positive experience, which includes a personalized approach and offering you a full understanding of your condition and the best plan for treating it.

Quick and efficient
He is very easy to talk to and listens to his patients. He is conservative and doesn’t jump to doing surgery right away. He has helped me get back to an active lifestyle.
