Dr. Anna Almonte, D.O., has been providing high quality obstetric and gynecological care to women of the Sacramento Area for over 17 years. Born and raised in Kiev, Ukraine, Dr. Almonte received her first Medical Degree at the age of 24 from one of Ukraines most prestigious medical universities. She completed one year of plastic surgery training after finishing medical school in Odessa, but then decided to continue pursuing her medical education in the United States. After moving to America, she worked hard and received her second Medical Degree of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) in New York City, learning and practicing medicine in one of America’s most densely populated and culturally diverse cities. After rotating in different specialties, Dr. Almonte ultimately fell in love with the OB/GYN practice and completed a 4 year residency program, which marked the beginning of her journey as an OB/GYN.
Coming from a D.O. background, Dr. Almonte is passionate about providing high quality healthcare with a holistic approach, which inspired her to also become a Certified Integrated Functional Medicine Provider in 2020. During the height of the pandemic, she never stopped learning and expanding her knowledge. She also strongly believes the sanctity of human life, and she has advocated for this right by becoming the Medical Director of Alternatives Pregnancy Center, a non-profit organization with a mission of offering alternative options of care for women who are facing unplanned pregnancies. Dr. Almonte’s ethical, spiritual, and medical values as a licensed physician are aligned with the mission of this organization, and she has been very passionate about it since she joined in 2021.
Being an immigrant herself, Dr. Almonte’s experiences have given her strong compassion and empathy for women and children of all ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds, and this empathy is translated in the quality of care she provides. After having her own practice and serving for over a decade in the heart of Sacramento’s diverse and complex population, she has welcomed thousands of babies into the community with high quality care, professional work ethic, and a nurturing heart. She is fluently tri-lingual in English, Russian, and Ukrainian, and this attribute has also been an asset in serving the Slavic Community of the Sacramento region, which is a large portion of the population that continues to grow every year.
Outside of her career, Dr. Almonte enjoys home cooking for her family, international travel, music, and art. She knows how to play several instruments, and has taken years of art lessons that have produced many beautiful paintings. She is always trying to enrich her mind through travel, and also loves learning new languages when she does so. She is deeply passionate about her cultural roots in Ukraine, and loves teaching her children about their heritage through stories and travel to her beautiful country. Dr. Almonte joined the DART team of Samaritan Purse during the outbreak of war in early 2022, and continues to search for ways that she can be of use during this extremely difficult crisis.
A good doctor.
If there were a way to give zero stars I would. Late for the start of the appointment, rushed me. Got my legs up to check fetal heartbeat while I was still trying to ask questions. Then chastised me for asking her to wait to answer questions at the end for not asking them at the start of the appt. There was a misunderstanding about labs and was told what can I do, call the quest manager about your missing PA, you’ll redo the lost labs. We got our lab results at the end of the visit from the nurse with no option to go over the results with the doctor. They were done all along. Awful bedside manner, looked at her watch several times. When I asked a question again she looked at my husband like I was crazy. Just awful. I’m considering changing practices.
She is wonderful and positive!
Been a patient with Dr. Almonte and had a great experience with her. Will continue to see her until I have my baby. I recommend her any new mommies to be Ob!
