Andrew Virata, M.D.

Dr. Andrew Virata, M.D., our Dermatopathologist here at Tareen Dermatology. He is a highly skilled physician who specializes in examining and diagnosing diseases of the hair, skin, and nails at a microscopic and molecular level. With thirteen years of college, medical school, and training, Dr. Virata is triple board-certified in Dermatopathology, Anatomic Pathology, and Clinical Pathology. Dr. Virata has been practicing Dermatopathology since 2007 and joins us from his previous position in the Mayo Clinic Health System. In 2020, he received appointment from the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science as both an Assistant Professor of Dermatology and an Assistant Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. He continues to contribute to research in his field with scientific publications at Tareen Dermatology.

Dr. Virata enjoys his practice where dermatology and pathology meet because it requires both microscopic examination of patient tissue and strong correlation with the clinical context. He values “the ability to work closely with colleagues and clinicians to arrive at the best possible diagnosis to help patients”. He enjoys spending time with his wife, three children, and dog and keeps busy on their country farmland. His most recent projects include restoring an old BMW Isetta and a Mercedes Benz Unimog.
