Dr. Andrew D. Heinzelmann attended Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, and did graduate studies in microbiology at the University of Arkansas, where he received a Master of Science degree. Dr. Heinzelmann completed medical school, an internship and an orthopaedic residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR.

A native of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Dr. Heinzelmann grew up and attended high school in Fayetteville, Arkansas. His interest in medicine came in part from his father, who was an orthopaedic surgeon. Dr. Heinzelmann also credits being a student athlete and a desire to help other young athletes return to the field of play to his decision to become a physician. He finds helping people return from pain and injury to a normal lifestyle the most enjoyable aspect of practicing medicine.

Dr. Heinzelmann completed medical school, an internship and an orthopaedic residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR. He also completed a sports medicine fellowship at Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Jackson, Mississippi.
He joined Ozark Orthopaedics in 2008, practicing at the Fayetteville clinic. His medical special interests are arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee, reconstructive shoulder surgery and sports medicine. Dr. Heinzelmann also serves as the Team Physician at Heritage High School in Rogers, Arkansas.
Dr. Heinzelmann’s professional memberships include the American Medical Society, Arkansas Medical Society, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
His hobbies include running, mountain biking, soccer, outdoor activities and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
