Dr. Andrew Carey, M.D., is a urologist and urologic surgeon with Northwest Urology. He earned his undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Oregon, graduating cum laude, and his medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He completed his residency in Urological Surgery at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics. Dr. Carey is experienced in robotic, laparoscopic, open, and endoscopic procedures and has specialized training in Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP).

Dr. Andrew Carey, M.D., is a urologist and urologic surgeon with Northwest Urology. He was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended the University of Oregon, where he graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Biology with an emphasis in Marine Biology and minors in Chemistry and Philosophy. He then earned his medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine, where he graduated among the top of his class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha national medical honor society. While in medical school he also earned a graduate certificate in Personalized Medicine.
Dr. Carey completed his residency in Urological Surgery at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics in Madison, Wisconsin. During his residency, he received broad training in the surgical and medical management of urologic disease, including robotic and laparoscopic surgery, open oncologic surgery, endourology and kidney stone surgery, genitourinary trauma, reconstructive urology, and penile and urethral prosthetic surgery. He is experienced in robotic (da Vinci), laparoscopic, open, and endoscopic procedures and is committed to using minimally invasive techniques whenever appropriate. He also received formal training in Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP), which he is excited to bring to the Pacific Northwest.
Dr. Carey provides comprehensive urologic care for men and women, including evaluation and treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), hematuria, elevated PSA, kidney and bladder stones, and genitourinary cancers. His particular clinical interests include urologic oncology, BPH, and kidney stone disease.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Carey has a strong interest in urologic research and medical education. His research has focused on urologic oncology, pediatric urology, genitourinary reconstruction, and kidney stone disease. His work has been published in peer-reviewed medical journals and presented at national meetings, including the American Urological Association. He is passionate about incorporating evidence-based medicine and advances in surgical technology into patient care while taking the time to understand each patient’s individual goals and concerns.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Carey enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, and golden retriever. He loves exploring the outdoors and the Pacific Northwest, and he is an avid Oregon Ducks fan.
