Upon completion of graduate school at University of South Carolina, Dr. Behler returned to Ann Arbor as a research consultant for the University of Michigan Health System, as well as for the Department of Veteran Affairs.
Dr. Behler has enjoyed performing as Department Chair of Otolaryngology for the past eight years, as well as numerous administrative duties including medical director of surgery and specialty for the hospital and chair of physician governance. He is an associate professor, department of surgery at Michigan State University.
Dr. Behler provides care that is personal and focused on access to care. He is a strong believer in advocating for the patient with timely appointments and preventative medicine. He believes in listening to each patient’s needs and working with them and their primary care physicians to improve their health and keep them well. He places a high emphasis and value on communication with referring providers and having open communication with each patient. He is committed to providing the best experience for the patient.
Dr. Behler resides in Grand Rapids, MI with his wife and three children. Together they enjoy traveling to Leelanau County as much as possible.

Its easy to expect a surgeon who is clearly an athlete to fit the trope of cocky, impatient surgeon, but Dr. Behler was not that at all. On top of doing great work, he is kind, patient with questions, good at explaining, and overall a great doctor to see

Explained things thoroughly, patient, friendly
basically said what i was feeling was all in my head and when they numbed my nose it started bleeding, the chick sprayed the stuff on the right side six times then only sprayed it twice on the left side.
Dr. Behler is fantastic. He's seen my kids and I and I'm always thoroughly impressed by his professional demeanor, patience in answering questions, and his knowledge. I highly recommend him and have followed him thru practice changes and will continue to see him!
