Dr. Amy Kelmenson, M.D. is a Corneal, Refractive and External Disease Specialist. She has received specialized training in corneal and ocular surface disease and surgeries, but also treats patients in all aspects of general ophthalmology including routine eye care, dry eye and allergic eye diseases, cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and uveitis. She believes in compassionate personalized care and a hands on approach to treating her patients. She treats Colorado Ophthalmology patients at both our Denver and Lakewood locations and speaks both English and Spanish.
Dr. Kelmenson is a Denver native and graduated from Cherry Creek High School. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Rochester, NY with degrees in both Biology and Spanish. She then completed medical school at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in 2007. After completing her medical internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Colorado, she went to Florida for her residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Florida in Jacksonville where she served as chief resident. She then went to Tufts New England Eye Center/Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston for her corneal fellowship, where she specialized in cornea, anterior segment, and refractive surgery.
Dr. Kelmenson is a board certified fellow with the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is also a member of the Colorado Society for Eye Physicians and Surgeons, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. She has published several text book chapters in the areas of Allergic Eye Disease and Corneal Dystrophies, in addition to publishing multiple publications in peer reviewed ophthalmology journals. She also acts as a clinical instructor for interns at both Presbyterian/St. Luke’s hospital and St. Joseph’s hospital here in Denver. She was also one of the official ophthalmologists for the Denver Nuggets from 2012-2017.
Outside of her rewarding profession, Dr. Kelmenson enjoys skiing, hiking, biking, and traveling.
