Dr. Amber MacFarlane, DO is a Fellowship trained Board-Certified Sports Medicine physician with expertise in non-operative management of acute and chronic orthopedic conditions including the utilization of musculoskeletal ultrasound for diagnosis as well as guided injections and procedures.
Dr. MacFarlane completed her undergraduate education at Widener University, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and minors in Biochemistry and Chemistry. She was also a NCAA Division III pole vaulter on the Women’s Track and Field team. After college, she attended Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and was elected to the Sigma Sigma Phi Honors Society. Dr. MacFarlane completed her residency in Family Medicine at Crozer Health where she was elected chief resident by her peers. Following residency, she completed a Sports Medicine fellowship at Crozer Health where she specialized in the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic orthopedic conditions, utilization of musculoskeletal ultrasound for diagnosis and intervention, and evaluation of sport-related concussions.
As a sports medicine physician, she has experience as a team physician ranging from high school to professional levels including being team physician for the MLS Philadelphia Union and Philadelphia Union II where she managed athletes on and off the field.
Dr. MacFarlane has multiple peer-reviewed publications and presentations. She is a member of the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine, the American College of Sports Medicine, and the American Academy of Family Practice.
