Aman Sharma, MD

Dr. Aman Sharma, M.D., is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in adult hip and knee replacement, with a focus on minimally invasive techniques designed to optimize recovery and help patients return to their active lives.
He has extensive training in muscle-sparing direct anterior total hip replacement, robotic-assisted surgery, and partial knee replacements—procedures that preserve healthy tissue, reduce pain, and support faster recovery.

Dr. Sharma completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Emory University, one of the nation’s leading training programs. He then went on to pursue a prestigious fellowship in adult reconstructive surgery at Harvard Medical School, where he honed his surgical skills in complex primary and revision joint reconstruction from faculty who have set the foundation for modern joint replacement surgery. He served as a clinical instructor during his fellowship year, teaching surgical skills to medical students and residents.

Dedicated to providing personalized, patient-centered care, Dr. Sharma combines modern surgical techniques with a compassionate approach. “My goal is to help patients move better, feel better, and return to the activities that make life meaningful,” he says. “Whether surgery is the right path or not, I want every patient to fully understand their joint health, explore all treatment options, and feel confident in their care. The foundation of this relationship is trust, which starts with clear communication between the surgeon and the patient.”

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Sharma is committed to advancing the field of orthopedic surgery through research, education, and the adoption of the latest technologies in joint reconstruction. His practice routinely incorporates robotic assistance for precise implant placement, supporting smoother recovery and long-term success. While Dr. Sharma treats a wide variety of general orthopaedic conditions, he is most passionate about minimally invasive procedures, which have consistently demonstrated faster recovery in the literature.

Dr. Sharma is certified in MAKO and CORI robotic-assisted surgery. He is well-published in prestigious academic journals (Journal of Arthroplasty, Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery), has had his research presented at national and international conferences, and is an active member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). He uses evidence-based, literature-supported methods to ensure that every surgical decision is guided by the latest research and best practices in orthopaedic care.

While he is originally from Atlanta, GA, Dr. Sharma and his family fell in love with the South Shore during his fellowship year. He ultimately wanted to serve the people and community that have been so welcoming and is delighted to call the south shore “home.” Before children, he routinely enjoyed playing tennis, golf, traveling, and collecting vinyl records. These days, he and his wife spend their free time rescuing the family’s orange cat, Teddy, from the violent affections of their toddler and infant.
