Dr. DeComas is a highly experienced and highly competent surgeon. In my first visit with her, I was impressed by her quiet confidence and unassuming “bedside manner”. Dr. DeComas performed my hip arthroplasty three days prior to this review. She and her staff were remarkable in explaining all I needed to know and do before and after, and answered all questions I had. The surgery went well, and the discomfort following has been markedly less than I anticipated. I am grateful for Dr. DeComas and The CORE Institute.

I have loved working with Dr. DeComas for many reasons. She comes across as very confident and competent which are good qualities in a physician! She is a very attentive listener and I appreciated that she fully included my spouse in all conversations. She is very sparky and enthusiastic and just adds a very positive spin to the whole experience. And on top of all this, she does good work! I am very satisfied with my whole surgery experience; the entire support staff has also been great.

Before joining The CORE Institute, Dr. de Comas completed a fellowship in musculoskeletal oncology in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the world-renowned MD Anderson at the University of Texas. During her fellowship, she worked in conjunction with leading oncology experts, with a focus on treatments for orthopedic ailments.
Dr. de Comas completed her residency program in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Ochsner Healthcare System. For the duration of her residency, Dr. de Comas assisted in providing the medical coverage for athletic competitions at several Louisiana High School football teams and the University of New Orleans basketball team. She received her doctoral degree at Tulane University School of Medicine. Fluent in Spanish, Dr. de Comas served as the Medical Spanish Instructor at Tulane School of Medicine. In addition, she was the Director of Service Learning at Ozanam Inn, a student-driven minor medical clinic and tuberculosis testing facility.
Dr. de Comas earned her undergraduate degree at Lee University, where she graduated summa cum laude. Upon graduation, she and a team of physicians volunteered their medical expertise to the underprivileged communities in Honduras.
Dr. de Comas is actively involved in academic medicine, contributing as an author to several academic publications, including the Journal of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, the Journal of Arthroplasty, and the American Journal of Orthopedics. She has lectured at various forums and academic symposiums in the medical community. Dr. de Comas is a member of numerous professional societies, including the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Ruth Jackson Orthopedic Society, and the Louisiana State Medical Society.
