Before joining The CORE Institute, Dr. de Comas completed a fellowship in musculoskeletal oncology in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the world-renowned MD Anderson at the University of Texas. During her fellowship, she worked in conjunction with leading oncology experts, with a focus on treatments for orthopedic ailments.
Dr. de Comas completed her residency program in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Ochsner Healthcare System. For the duration of her residency, Dr. de Comas assisted in providing the medical coverage for athletic competitions at several Louisiana High School football teams and the University of New Orleans basketball team. She received her doctoral degree at Tulane University School of Medicine. Fluent in Spanish, Dr. de Comas served as the Medical Spanish Instructor at Tulane School of Medicine. In addition, she was the Director of Service Learning at Ozanam Inn, a student-driven minor medical clinic and tuberculosis testing facility.
Dr. de Comas earned her undergraduate degree at Lee University, where she graduated summa cum laude. Upon graduation, she and a team of physicians volunteered their medical expertise to the underprivileged communities in Honduras.
Dr. de Comas is actively involved in academic medicine, contributing as an author to several academic publications, including the Journal of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, the Journal of Arthroplasty, and the American Journal of Orthopedics. She has lectured at various forums and academic symposiums in the medical community. Dr. de Comas is a member of numerous professional societies, including the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Ruth Jackson Orthopedic Society, and the Louisiana State Medical Society.
She is the best personable really a straight shooter when it comes to my care. Five stars are not enough, I would say she is a ten in my book.

Dr Amalia de comas is an excellent doctor, she saved my mom’s leg when no other doctor wanted to touch her after some other doctors bad work she did and we’re forever grateful, my mom had to deal with intense pain for over a year and after Dr de Comas did a second surgery pain was gone and she got to keep her leg, Dr de Comas is professional and kind
