Born in Colombia, Dr. Sanchez is bilingual and bicultural, bringing a diverse perspective and a deep commitment to serving the San Antonio community with high-quality, patient-centered care. He served in the Minnesota National Guard as the Division Surgeon for the 34th Infantry Division of the United States Army, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He also previously worked at the Veterans Administration (VA) in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Dr. Sanchez earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia and completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. He joined Gonzaba Medical Group in 2026, inspired by the vision and leadership of founder and CEO Dr. Bill Gonzaba. As Dr. Sanchez shared, “After meeting with Dr. Bill Gonzaba and feeling motivated by his life history, I wanted to be a part of his vision to serve the community.”
A Fellow of the American College of Physicians, Dr. Sanchez is also affiliated with the American College of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Internal Medicine. His professional interests include reviewing medical literature and advancing evidence-based care practices.
Dr. Sanchez is fluent in both English and Spanish.
