Dr. Tatem graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia where he was a HOPE scholar and he received his B.S. degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He completed his internship in General Surgery followed by his residency in Urology at Indiana University in Indianapolis, Indiana. He then elected to pursue advanced training with a fellowship in Male Fertility, Microsurgery, and Sexual Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Tatem is a distinguished member of the Andrology community having published more than 20 peer manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals. He has presented award-winning research in the fields of both male fertility and sexual medicine at several international meetings. He is an active member of both the Sexual Medicine Society of North America and the Society for the Study of Male Reproduction where he serves on outreach committees for both organizations. He helped establish Indiana’s first fertility preservation program for young patients facing cancer treatment at Riley Hospital for Children where he still serves. He has a passion for patient advocacy and posts regularly at his personal website www.alextatemmd.com.

Honestly one of the best and coolest Dr’s I’ve ever encountered. He reminded me of just a normal guy and didn’t give the scary Dr vibes. I feel Dr. Tatem is one of the best swag Dr’s I’ve ever met. This is a Dr that if he didn’t tell you or you didn’t see him during a visit, you’d just think he was a gym buddy you saw at the gym everyday. Great charisma, very relatable, very knowledgeable and overall very good at his job and making sure you understand your situation. My situation has been a mystery for a very long time and today all my thoughts and questions were satisfied. I can now put all my worries and doubts at ease after my visit today and truly just blessed to know what my situation is and will be going forward. Thank you Dr. Tatem and your friendly staff.
