Originally from the Memphis, Tennessee area, Dr. Kovalic received his undergraduate degree from Rhodes College. He received his medical degree from University of Tennessee – College of Medicine in Memphis, TN. He then completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Wake Forest Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He went on to complete his fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell in Queens, New York, serving as Chief Fellow.

Dr. Kovalic is interested in all facets of gastroenterology and hepatology, but has a particular interest in colorectal cancer prevention, gastroesophageal reflux disease, Barrett’s esophagus and hepatobiliary diseases. He is also a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.
Dr. Kovalic and his wife, Olivia, have two children. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling and playing basketball.

Wonderful beside manner and attention to detail.
Dr Kovalik is kind and puts your mind at rest during a procedure such as this . He explains what he is looking for and then provides you with helpful follow up information . . This was my second colonoscopies at this location . The office staff, nurses and anesthesiologists are efficient and caring

I had a great experience with Dr. Kovalic and his staff. Everyone was very friendly, the whole process was quick and easy, and I didn’t have to wait around forever. Definitely one of the smoothest doctor visits I’ve had. Highly recommend!
