Dr. Akhil Sastry is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee joint replacement and robotic-assisted surgery.
Widely renowned for his work with MAKO technology, Dr. Sastry is credited as the 1st Master Surgeon of Robotic Surgery in New England. He is recognized as the first surgeon to have performed a robotic-assisted total knee replacement in New Hampshire and Maine, and was among the first 15 surgeons to perform this operation worldwide. He has since performed over 1,000 robotic-assisted knee replacements.
Dr. Sastry is also a pioneer of the direct anterior approach for total hip replacements. He was the first surgeon in the Seacoast to introduce this minimally invasive, muscle-sparing approach back in 2010 and has performed over 1,500 hip replacements!
Dr. Sastry continues to educate and advance the field of robotic surgery through podium presentations, journal publications, and hands-on training.

An excellent visit starting with check in, with great staff, X-ray, and a very knowledgeable and personable doctor who gave me a diagnosis and a common sense treatment plan that is working. I highly recommend Dr. Sastry!

Dr. Sastry, is an excellent doctor and surgeon. I would recommend him to anyone. He is a little fast in and out of the examining room but then again he is very popular.
Dr Sastry performed a total knee replacement for me and I couldn’t ask for a better surgeon. At my 6 week follow up I had a list of around 12 questions (like they tell you to do) and he came in and talked about the surgery and how I was doing and he answered over half of the questions without me even asking! That shows how experienced a surgeon he is, how prepared he is and how carefully he listens to his patients. I am hoping I won’t need the other knee done, but if I do, I’m booking Dr Sastry. Highly recommend to anyone needing knee replacement.
Dr. Sadtry is wonderful. He is very pleasant, truthful and looks out for the betterment f his patient . I highly recommend.
