She then attended the Keck School of Medicine at USC in Los Angeles, California. After graduating as a Dean's Scholar, she completed her Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship at Scripps Clinc and Research Institute in La Jolla, California. During her time at Scripps Clinc, Dr. LaJoie won the awards in both clincal research and humanitarianism.
