Dr. Lukasiewicz was a varsity rower at Yale and first encountered orthopaedics when he broke his wrist and clavicle. He enjoyed interacting with his treating orthopaedic surgeon and was impressed by the thought and care he put into getting him back to his sport. In medical school, Dr. Lukasiewicz loved surgery and orthopaedics, particularly. He enjoys working with his hands and mechanical problems, and orthopaedic surgery felt like the right fit. He feels immensely fulfilled helping people regain function and continue doing what makes them happy.
Dr. Lukasiewicz met his wife, Amy, who is from Birmingham, while attending Yale. She is a professor of British history at UAB, and they are delighted to live near family and raise their daughter here.
