Dr. Abhishek Kumar, M.D., is a fellowship-trained interventional radiologist with a national reputation in embolization therapy for musculoskeletal pain. He is a Fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology (FSIR) — an honor granted through rigorous peer review for sustained excellence across clinical practice, research, and teaching.
He serves as Site Principal Investigator on multiple national clinical trials, including the pivotal RESORB trial for genicular artery embolization in knee osteoarthritis, the NIH-funded PE-TRACT study, the OCCLUDE embolic registry, CLEAN PE aspiration thrombectomy trial, and the Medtronic PELE IDE study of the Onyx Liquid Embolic System.
Dr. Kumar has published more than 53 peer-reviewed articles and delivered over 95 talks at national and international meetings including SIR, RSNA, CIRSE, GEST, and ISET. He served as Chair of the Society of Interventional Radiology Early Career Section (2023–2024), and is regularly invited as course faculty and as a proctor for hospitals building embolization programs.
Shoulder embolization went smoothly. Pre -procedure instructions incorrectly indicated light sedation would be use and was not and was not needed. The techs and nurses were great. Dr Kumar talked very little, only responding to my questions and did not speak to me at all after the procedure and barely before it. Way too early to rate the success of the procedure.

Dr. Kumar and his team made me very comfortable with the procedure I was having. Dr. Kumar talk to me before the procedure checking to see if I had any questions and to make sure I understood what the procedure was all about. As the procedure went on, he explained to me what he was doing and what to expect after the procedure was finished. His team kept checking on me to make sure that I was comfortable. Whatever I needed they gladly accommodate.
