The career of Dr. Abdul-Razaq Adeniyi, M.D., FACC, as a cardiologist is the culmination of passion and compassion.
While studying biochemistry and molecular biology as an undergraduate, he found great satisfaction assisting refugees through nonprofit work. Medicine, he says, seemed like the perfect way to meld his love for science with his desire to help others.
Ironically, following his heart to medical school eventually led him to specialize in the organ itself. During his internal medicine residency, cardiology proved fascinating.
“I think being able to impact people in a truly dramatic way is probably the most rewarding thing about cardiology as a specialty,” Dr. Adeniyi says. “In my area of interventional cardiology and structural cardiology, I have the opportunity to do it in a wide variety of ways, and I’ve just fallen in love with that whole aspect of the field.”
His work ranges from practicing preventive cardiology as a way to help patients avert heart disease to performing complex procedures, caring for heart attack victims, treating valvular issues, and much more.
Cardiology allows Dr. Adeniyi the opportunity to build relationships with his patients over time as well as foster strong connections with those in emergency situations.
One such experience that took place early in his career continues to have a profound effect on him today. Dr. Adeniyi was treating a critically ill mother in her 40s, who had complex cardiac issues. Not only was the patient’s mortality at stake, but so was the well-being of her children. In the end, Dr. Adeniyi and his team were able to work toward a successful outcome and save the patient’s life.
“That’s always impressed on me the importance of having adequate skills and making the right decisions when treating patients, particularly those who are critically ill,” he says. “And that’s what pushes me to really try and maintain the highest level of expertise in all the subspecialty areas of cardiology that I practice.”
Dr. Adeniyi continues his tradition of practicing compassion outside of the workplace through volunteering and sharing his medical expertise with Savannah’s refugee community.
At home, Dr. Adeniyi enjoys spending time with his wife, visiting his family, and playing soccer and flag football.
Professional, articulate. Exuded confidence. Listened well and explained his treatment plan clearly. I felt better leaving his office.

I finally find a cardiology who really listen to you and care for the patients. I’ve been dealing with this palpitations for over a year now, every single Doctor I went to, they keep said to me you’re healthy as a horse! Still I have all of this crazy feelings, how in the world they tell you that when you know your body best. I’m a right or what! I pray to God to please find me a good Cardiologist. Here I’am with this amazing caring young cardiologist, we’re going to do one last test just to make sure and then proceed with the treatment he think will help me, finger cross this it is. I’m so excited and thanks God I found you 🙏…
Following the unexpected shock of my Heart Attack, Dr. Adeniyi was assigned by the hospital to manage my care. I was immediately impressed with his kindness and the way he was able to explain what had happened along with the plan to get me better. After my discharge I am now a very grateful patient of Dr. Adeniyi's.
Dr was 1hour and 30 minutes late. Other than that he was excellent
Dr. Adeniyi answered all my questions (and I had a lot of them), and he helped me come up with a monitoring schedule to ensure continued cardiac health.
I love his logic and walking me through preventative measures.
