After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, he went on to attend the University of Michigan Medical School to earn his Doctor of Medicine degree. After medical school, he completed an orthopedic surgery residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York, followed by additional specialty training through an orthopedic hand and upper extremity surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.
