Dr. Bates is professional and pleasant. He asked questions and confirmed answers. Completed examination of shoulder and reviewd x rays. He let me his diagnosis, explained it, explained .medications to prescribe, treatment including lenght of it and scheduled follow up. Very pleased with Dr. Bates on the first appointment. Also. It was easy to get the appt. The scheduling office also professional, prompt response, and patient . Thanks

Still the best ortho doctor in Florida. Really cares about patients and their treatment. Never tries to rush treatment or surgery without looking at all the options.

This is the 6th day Post-Op and I have less pain. he sent me a personal call on the second day. just wish his office were closer to my home. i wish he had given me an operative report on the DOS. My husband and daughter did not remember or understand what he said after the surgery.

Seemed unfriendly or in a bad mood. When last seen PA offered Injection, which I declined at the time as I was already on daily Prednisone. When I scheduled I explained to scheduler I was need corticosteroid injection. However, Dr Bates said that was not possible to day as those are done by his PA Today’s appointment was a waste of Fr Bates time and mine as well. Now coming back in a week to get injection

Dr. Bates repaired a torn meniscus in my knee and I am so very happy and thankful. I am now on the road to recovery and I can tell after only two days postop that I am going to be getting back to normal again. Thank you so much Dr. Bates to you and your surgical team.

It was clear Dr. Bates did not review my record because it felt like it was my first time at the clinic. The way he was dismissive and made it seem like my injury and pain were all made up, there is absolutely no fix, is baffling to me. Instantly when he came in the room he had a “check in the box” attitude and was trying to get on with his day. He came to me HIGHLY recommended but I will not be recommending him going forward. People go to doctors and other professionals to get answers in hopes to resolve an ongoing issue and he had none and was disinterested at that point. Other than Dr. Bates, everyone at SOS Riverside was top tier amazing. Having some personality goes a long way.

Received no introduction/hello when he entered the room. Was in and out in less than 3 minutes.

I had an appointment for Cortisone shot for shoulder, instead, he wanted to do MRI and surgery, which I need neither!! He’s in business for only the money. I’ll never go back to his practice!!! And he was 1 hour and 15 minutes late for my appointment. Shame on you!

I was counting down the days for this appointment, as I’ve been fighting this issue for 2 yrs. Unfortunately, they were way behind on their appointments. My appointment was at 11:20 AM, and they finally took me back at 12:50 PM, and their next block of appointments started at 1 PM. I hurried back when I was called and told them I was so sorry they were running so far behind and that I hoped they could get lunch! Dr. Bates spent about 4 min with me, had not reviewed my MRI images that I brought with me because he did not have enough time, and didn’t have time to give me any sort of specifics about the surgery until I asked. He was in such a hurry, that all he said was that they would have to wait for the VA to approve it, which could take 2 to 4 wks, and they would get it scheduled as soon as possible, so that I could get some relief. I had to ask about the type of procedure, the method, etc. I will be calling the office today because I know he is a good doc & surgeon.

He is the only one there that has taken the time to actually listen to me and what’s going on with my injury. I feel as if everyone else just pushed me off on him and he actually shows he cares about his job and his patients

Came in with an attitude and was rude about the situation. He quotes "your issue don't look convincing enough for me and you look fine to me." Then proceeds to grab my arm and yank it in different directions which cause more pain and leaving the facility in pain more than what I came in. He says that supposedly it's nothing wrong but there's bone fragments in my shoulder

Dr Bates done my right shoulder in 2017 and now my left shoulder in 2022. I think that he’s a fantastic Dr. We need more like him.

Doc waa excellent. He was very polite, punctual and listened to my complaints very well.

Knows his shoulders for sure! He identified the problem and recommended a plan of care that made great sense. He listens and answered all my questions in a clear manner without a lot of jargon. I have full confidence in working with Dr. Bates as my orthopedic specialist.

The desk told me he does knee ops when I asked. Close to 2 hrs layer Dr Bates arrived ,asked several questions n informed me he doesn't do knees but he'll direct my son to another Dr. That does. I don't drive n have transpo difficulty thus it's hard to arrange visits. Each and EVERY time I attempt to get a call thru, I'm informed that t can wait an extended length of time ore wait for a call back which has seldom. Arrived. Please excuse errors because spell check checks in hylandics and I forgot most of it. I. Thorough and obviously quite competent… however, slow down just a tiny bit. You’re very, very busy… that’s understood, but you don’t have to make it obvious to the patient.

I was so disappointed in how I was treated. I have been in so much pain barely able to move my arm with how bad my shoulder hurts. So much so that I wake at night if I move because the pain. Dismissive, rushed, came into the room with a diagnosis before ever examining me, made belittling comments when I expressed pain, made diagnosis based on MRI, then contradiced himself by stating it was too old to be of use, not to mention as I have a copy & it has been reviewed with me by several (3) MDs at this point, what he reported as my test results... weren't my test results. His time spent with me was approximately 8 minutes.

First visit and he seems very knowledgeable. A little short on friendliness but maybe very busy and just a business like personality.

I came here 2 weeks ago and got an mri. Came in today and was told i may need an mri!! I stated that i already had an mri and made it clear that it be here for my appt due to me being able to take time off work. Only to be told nothing is here. So i missed 3.5 hours of work today another 2 hours on the 27th and another copay.

Dr. Bates was excellent. He was very reassuring and concise about my injury and the process I would be going through. He introduced me to his intern and made me feel comfortable going forward. I have exercises to do until I can get an MRI and then we’ll move forward with further treatment. Very pleased!

I waited an hour to see him and he spent five minutes with me.

Dr Bates reacted very unprofessionally to our answers concerning onset of therapy after surgery. His behavior was combative, while raising his voice, as well as crudely condescending. This attitude has carried through the duration of his care for our sister Deborah Morgan, who is mentally disabled. I find his behavior repugnant, his surgical abilities do not relieve him from the elements necessary for patient relationships; mutual knowledge, trust, loyalty, and regard. Dr Bates could use a healthy dose of humility!
