I intentionally scheduled the 1st appt at 8:00 a.m. because I start work at 7:00 a.m. and wanted to minimize the amount of work I would miss. After arriving on time, I was informed by the nurse that the dr was still at the hospital making rounds and would not arrive at the office until 8:45–9:00 a.m. If the office already knew the physician would be unavailable, patients should have been notified before arriving and given the opportunity to reschedule. My time is just as valuable as the provider's. Expecting patients to sit and wait nearly an hour for the first appointment of the day shows a complete lack of respect for their schedules, work obligations, and commitments. Delays can happen, but failing to communicate them in advance is unacceptable. I chose the earliest appointment specifically to avoid missing work, yet I ended up losing far more time because the office scheduled appts they knew the dr could not keep.
