Michael Haywood is a pre-licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with HealthFirst Family Care, providing services in outpatient, school-based, and in crisis counseling. Michael holds a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Plymouth State University and earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration from University of Phoenix. Michael takes an integrated approach with patient treatment, pulling from different modalities including ACT, DBT, solution focused brief therapy, trauma-informed interventions, and client centered approach, working with patients to form treatment plans based on individual needs. Prior to his work in the mental health field, Michael served in the United States Air Force as a Security Forces member, working in several roles of military law enforcement and security, including his deployment to Afghanistan in 2014. After leaving the military, he began working as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and has experience with Applied Behavioral Analysis working with individuals diagnosed with ASD. His dream is to work in the mental health field and help to combat both veteran and active-duty military stigma around mental health care and provide support for individuals who have or are currently serving. In his free time, Michael enjoys reading, learning, writing, and engaging with others in thoughtful conversations.
