Dr. Stuart Kaplan joined Tyson Eye in 2002 as a Florida board-certified optometrist. He practices comprehensive vision science and is well-versed in all optical disorders, devoting his skills and training to healthy eyesight for his patients. He is the Program Director for the Dry Eye Treatment Program at Tyson Eye as well as being involved in multiple clinical trials relating to glaucoma management, intraocular lenses, and dry eye therapy. He is currently lecturing on Florida optometry jurisprudence.
Dr. Kaplan began his undergraduate studies at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Vision Science from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He completed his doctorate studies at Nova Southeastern University’s College of Optometry in 2001.
Dr. Kaplan’s community involvement includes currently serving as the governor-appointed vice chairman of the Florida Board of Optometry and vice commander of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 9-1 at Fort Myers Beach. He is the immediate past president of Southwest Florida Optometric Association (a position he held for six years), past commander of the Southwest Florida Jewish War Veterans Post 400, and past commander of United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 9-1. Dr. Kaplan is a decorated Gulf War veteran who served for four years in the United States Army. He continued his service for four additional years in the Florida Army National Guard prior to starting his collegiate studies.
Dr. Kaplan is happy to call Southwest Florida home with his wife, Dr. Angela Kaplan, and his four children. He enjoys spending time with his family, boating, visiting amusement parks, and other family-oriented events. In addition to boating, his hobbies include scuba diving and biking.

I had an abrasion on my eye due to something I did during hurricane Helene. I called Tyson Eye the next day and they were able to see me that same day. The staff was excellent. I saw Dr Kaplan and he explained to me all the details of my injury. He's very personable and professional. I will be seeing Dr Kaplan for all my eye needs in the future. He's the best!!!
I always feel like I’ve been taken care of when I leave the office that a thorough evaluation was given and proper information was provided. I needed a last-minute appointment. He was very patient thorough and accommodating as always patient with the patient
